Precast Concrete Erection

Construction · Ver en español

Talking points

  1. Temporary bracing for precast elements must be designed by a Professional Engineer and installed before the crane releases the piece.
  2. Use tag lines to control the load during placement. Never stand between a precast element and a fixed object during positioning.
  3. Inspect all rigging hardware — lifting inserts, coil bolts, anchors — before each lift. Hardware must match the element weight and configuration.
  4. Fall protection is required for erection crews working at height. Plan anchorage points before the pieces are placed, not after.
  5. No workers may be under a suspended precast element at any time. Barricade the drop zone and the swing radius.

Ask the crew

Has the engineer's bracing plan been reviewed for today's picks — and are all rigging inserts inspected?

Standards this talk is built on

A toolbox talk is a short safety briefing. It supports the training a standard requires; it does not replace it.
