Glazing and Curtain Wall Installation
Construction · Ver en español
Talking points
- Fall protection is required at 6 feet during all glazing and curtain wall operations. PFAS is typically required because guardrails may interfere with the installation.
- Secure glass panels with suction cups rated for the panel weight. Inspect suction cups for wear, cracking, and proper vacuum before each use.
- Wind is the primary enemy of glass handling at height. Establish wind speed limits and suspend panel hoisting when limits are exceeded.
- Panels staged at height must be secured against wind, vibration, and accidental displacement. An unsecured panel can become a sail in a gust.
- Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling glass. Even tempered glass edges can cause deep cuts.
Ask the crew
What are our wind speed limits for panel handling today — and who is monitoring conditions?
Standards this talk is built on
A toolbox talk is a short safety briefing. It supports the training a standard requires; it does not replace it.
