Assured Equipment Grounding Conductor Program (AEGCP)

Construction · Ver en español

Talking points

  1. An AEGCP is an alternative to GFCIs for protecting workers from ground faults on construction sites. Your site must use one or the other — not neither.
  2. Under an AEGCP, all cord sets and receptacles must be visually inspected daily for damage, and defective equipment must be removed from service immediately.
  3. Continuity and grounding conductor tests must be performed before first use on site and at least every three months thereafter.
  4. A written program must be in place, and a competent person must be designated to implement and maintain the testing schedule.
  5. Test records must be kept and made available to OSHA upon request. If you cannot show documentation of testing, the AEGCP is not compliant.

Ask the crew

Is this site using GFCIs, an AEGCP, or both — and when was the last time grounding tests were performed?

Standards this talk is built on

A toolbox talk is a short safety briefing. It supports the training a standard requires; it does not replace it.
